Reliable Inshore Fishing Trips in South Padre
Padre Island National Seashore - Kenedy, TX
Inshore fishing around South Padre Island has been steady and productive this week, with warm water temperatures and light winds making for smooth conditions on the Lower Laguna Madre. Anglers are seeing solid action on Redfish and Speckled Trout, especially during early morning hours and right before sunset. Redfish have been cruising the flats in knee-deep water, hitting live shrimp under popping corks and soft plastics in natural colors. Slot-size fish are common, with a few oversized reds mixed in.
Speckled Trout are showing up in good numbers near grassy drop-offs and sand pockets. Drifting with live croaker or working paddle tails has been effective. Black Drum have also been making an appearance around the deeper channels, with fresh dead shrimp bringing in consistent bites.
Flounder catches are picking up around sandy cuts and near drop-offs. Anglers using Gulp! baits or slow-rolled jigs are having the most success. Water clarity is excellent right now, making sight casting a great option on calmer days.
Overall, it’s a great time to plan a South Padre inshore fishing trip. The bite is reliable, the weather is cooperative, and the Lower Laguna Madre is full of opportunity. Whether you're looking for a relaxing family outing or a focused Redfish fishing trip in South Texas, the fish are biting.
